Online Registration Now Open for 2005 Coastal Alabama BirdFest
ALABAMA COASTAL BIRDFEST 2005
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE,
Registration is now open for the 2005 Alabama Coastal BirdFest, scheduled for Oct. 20-23. “People can register in a variety of ways,” said John Borom, president of Mobile Bay Audubon Society, one of the event organizers. “The secure registration page is up and running on our web site at www.alabamacoastalbirdfest.com, and people may either complete their entire registration with a credit card online or may download the registration form as a PDF file, print it out and mail it in with credit card information or a check. Registration forms are also in our Alabama Coastal BirdFest brochures, and those are available all over the Gulf Coast.”
This year’s Alabama Coastal BirdFest will include even more guided tours, speakers, and special events than last year’s inaugural event. Twenty birding tours along the Alabama Coastal Birding Trail are planned, including stops at Weeks Bay, Bellingrath Gardens, Bayou la Batre, Historic Blakeley State Park and the Tensaw Delta, Dauphin Island, Bon Secour, and Gulf Shores. “This year, we have added several new tours and will repeat visits to some of last year’s most popular destinations,” said Borom. “We’ve scheduled daily boat tours at Weeks Bay and in the Delta, which were a huge attraction last year.”
All tours depart from the Nix Center in Fairhope, Alabama and require advance registration.
In addition to the fee-based trips and social events, the Alabama Coastal BirdFest features a free, daylong Bird and Conservation Expo on Saturday, Oct. 22, on the grounds of Faulkner State Community College in Fairhope. Many of the same bird and nature exhibitors who took part last year will return, along with exhibits and displays from the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. On the same day, mini Bird and Conservation Expo will be held in Mobile County at Bellingrath Gardens.
